It finally happened, the first official DOL club trip!
Firstly a really really big thanks to Micheal Beirne - Yachty Commodore and generally a really good chap for hosting us on his fabulous boat, air-con and hot showers is not what we are used (& should not get used too). So on behalf of the DOL a big hearty thanks!
Also our condolences and RIP to Micheal's anchor, which deftly disappeared as he rushed to rescue the bold and adventurous boys who were floating off towards Cairns. We've a S.A.R (search and rescue) coming up soon to go look for Micheal's anchor, I mean whats a shiny new stainless steel chain going to do without an anchor.
Shepparton Shoal, a banana shaped atol just South of Salamaua was our target and boy it did not disappoint, dropping off to beyond the depths of the PADI enthusiast the reef just kept delivering. Luckily we had B1 Dean "David Bailey" Irving with us to document our findings and all we can say is OMG, just fabulous, untouched and unspoilt, absolutely world class.
So get ready for the next trip in early July, June dive falls the day after the Rotary ball so as to not intoxicate the reefs of Lae with hung over divers we are pushing to 8th July. So its lobby, lobby time to see who can get to support us with access to a boat, we will take anything, old junkers, banana boats so what ever is available, I mean its time to get wet!
